Air Force Junior ROTC Norco High Students Accepted into Flight Academy

Luke Ibbetson, Cindy Sifuentes, and Dillon May were accepted into the Flight Academy sponsored by the United States Air Force.

Norco High School Air Force Junior ROTC cadets, Luke Ibbetson, Cindy Sifuentes, and Dillon May, were accepted into the Flight Academy sponsored by the United States Air Force this summer. Cadets currently enrolled in the Air Force Junior ROTC program can apply for Flight Academy. Grades, recommendations, and extracurricular activities are used to determine eligibility and acceptance. Over two thousand cadets applied this year and only 300 were accepted.

The Flight Academy is an, all-expense paid (typically twenty to thirty thousand dollars in cost), eight week intensive aviation program at a university with the goal of obtaining a private pilot’s license. This is extremely challenging as cadets must work hard in the classroom with ground school while also logging at least 40 hours of flying time, including their first solo flight, flying at night, flying cross country, and much more.

Luke and Dillon both earned their private pilot’s license and Cindy is very close to finishing.

We are very proud of these three cadets, and we look forward to their bright futures.
